We're off on a rally this weekend and the rally site is just outside a village in Gloucestershire.
As usual I had a look at the surrounding area via Google Earth and switched from the map to the satellite view and zoomed in. (It always pays to make sure that the site is not too close to railways, rural based haulage firms or remote meat processing plants before deciding to go)
I've found that by dragging the new feature which is a gold coloured figure onto the road that I'm about to travel down I can 'drive' along the route by double clicking on the picture of the road.
Using a combination of this and the direction arrows I've had a good look round the village, 'found' the village hall where Saturday's social evening will be held and most importantly ensured that the route that I've chosen will be suitable for my outfit with no tight corners or narrow hump backed bridges to worry about.
When planning a trip in future Google Earth will provide a valuable tool help to avoid sat nav blunders.
