Grand cherokee towing electrics

Having the tow bar and electrics fitted tommorrow, 2 questions. On the Fronterra there was a repeater on the dash to let you know the caravan indicators were flashing, does the Grand cherokees have this pre fitted. Also will I need a heavy duty flasher unit or will the standard unit be powerfull enough.

Hi Del. As far as I know there's no dash repeater on the GC. I'm not sure what you mean by heavy duty flasher, if you mean by-pass relay then yes you will need one as the GC's bulb failure system is only capable of powering the most basic trailer lighting.

del, even if it does have the facility for a dash repeater you will be very lucky if you find a towbar fitter willing to spend the time connecting up to it, they find it far easier and a lot quicker to just fit a buzzer. out of all my tow cars the only one ever to have the dash board repeater wired was my discovery with landrover supplied and fitted towbar. as craig states nearly all modern cars require the bypass relay to stop the bulb failure warning getting confused but this should now be standard practice by your fitter.
