Grey Plug Scorch Mark

After two trips with a new caravan, I have noticed a small scorch mark on the outer casing of the grey plug. The fridge is working OK whilst travelling, and the 12v battery is charging OK. It has been suggested that the centre pin needs opening up to obtain a better contact, has any other reader had this problem.

Mark, The centre pin is the fridge return. If there is bad contact there it usually melts the plastic around the pin. Is the schorch adjacent to any particular pin? I can only think of pin 6, the fridge supply having enough current in normal use.

Lots of people have problems with the grey plug particularly the centre pin.

Have a look on www.towitall.co.uk for lots of pretty coloured wiring diagrams and a way to spread the load on the fridge circuit.

I have done this mod and it has worked well with no further melting etc.
