Groaning from towbar ball

As my one has started making a noise deceided to clean them. After wards I put a dummy ball on and started having a noise that have never heard before. That is the black lever when pushed down made this loud click. At the moment it is a bit of hassle to connect to the caravan so perhaps you guys could comment whether it is normal or not, plus going Friday.

Mine often groans when first hitched up but only for a few hundred yards.

I have not had a click from the black lever. If you are handy with tools you could strip it down, clean and inspect. You should get any replacement parts in time. It is not too difficult and YouTube will assist.

You lot are lucky as it is my back that groans when i hitch up. 😆

Clean the towball with brake fluid. Remove the pads inside the stabiliser and clean them also with brake fluid. It may help.

This is usually dirt in the hitch. I would clean it as Buckman suggests. From a safety point of view it should not matter though.

Don't you mean brake cleaning fluid. Brake fluid is oily and will damage the alko pads.
