Gummed up gas hob jets

The flames from the burners on the gas hob were getting very weak in spite op the gas bottle being nearly full.

Someone said that the burner jets can , over time , get bunged up with residue from the burnt gas.

I gave them a rub with a soapy cloth and poked the jet with a bristle from a nylon washing up brush and there was some improvement.

I'd like to give the burners a good clean out. The jet holes are quite fine so I don't want to poke something like a needle in which is going to enlarge the hole.

Has anyone else had this problem ? What is the best way to clean the burners out ? I thought maybe fuse wire or is there a solvent I could use?

Thanks, Wes

Are you sure it is not the gas regulator getting bunged up and reducing the amount of gas getting to the hob?

Just a thought as this is a more common problem than blocked jets?

Thanks Jim

That was my first port of call - a new regulator but it didn'thelp. I think I'll persist with the bristle !
