Hi;
I am in the process of trying to buy a Motorhome and have been looking on Gumtree.

However, there a regular occurrence which is puzzling me and I wondered if anyone could shed any light.

Every time a really cheap Motorhome comes online, the second picture is nearly always advice that the seller is selling on behalf of a friend/family member and a mobile number is added. It’s almost an identical notice every time. This is despite the distance; one yesterday in Liverpool and one today in Newcastle!

Any ideas anyone; I am just concerned it's some sort of scam?

Hi,
Sorry I can't find any examples of this on Gumtree right now. Could you post a link to one of these adverts please? If I were you for a start I'd google the phone number, seller's name, vehicle registration etc, just to see if any scam warnings come up.

Then I'd read this great advice from Practical Motorhome's expert on buying used motorhomes – please click here: http://bit.ly/1HGvSTu.

Hi,
BEWARE !!!! I was almost caught by this type of scam a few years ago via eBay. The 'seller' was "working away" and the motorhome was based in Scotland. But, if I paid by bank transfer, they'd deliver the van to me and refund me if it wasn't what I wanted. The sell was 'a woman' called 'Evelyn'.
They even sent me an official eBay invoice.
Turns out, it was all a scam, Some innocent person had there motorhome photographed and pictured as up for sale. Even the bank (Metro Bank) weren't interested. I contacted eBay, police etc etc... It was just down to common sense that saved me my money..
Beware and good luck.
