Colin, wishing you a very happy retirement, when you eventually finish work in 2 weeks time! I can thoroughly recommend retirement, and although I retired early, and have not worked for 7 years, there is never a day goes by without me thanking my lucky stars I don't have to go out to work any more!
I think the most brilliant thing about being retired is the knowledge that if you wake up to find it's a lovely day, you can just chuck everything in the 'van and take off somewhere! I think since I got back into caravanning I've only attended one pre-booked meet, the other 7 trips have all been spur-of-the-moment outings. That's the best thing about caravanning. What's the point of booking up to go somewhere, and spend a week in inclement weather, when you can disappear at the drop of a hat when the weather forecast is looking more hopeful? I spent too many years doing that, especially when most of my days off were midweek!
