........For there is none of you so mean and base,
That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'

As a happily divorced man before I met the lovely Carole 15 years ago it could be said that I got the T shirt, but we won't go into that

Open goal, couldn't resist

Happy St George's Day all! So if the Scots have a wee dram and the Irish some Guinness to celebrate, what should the English be filling their glasses with today? Cider? Pimm's?!

When did this "happy patron saints" day start - what a load of rubbish!
If you don't like it don't read it. ;)
April 23rd this year also marked the 450th anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare, the Bard who is celebrated and revered throughout the civilised world, and I included some stirring prose written by him to go with the picture in my O.P.
We see lots of things which celebrate St Patricks Day on March 17th, and as someone with Irish parentage I'm more than happy to join the celebration in the traditional manner, so why shouldn't English people, and anyone else who wants to, celebrate the birth of the Bard and the feast day of St George, the patron Saint of England?

That's a brusque statement.
As long as the Christian faith has had saints St Patrick is Ireland
St Andrew Scotland
St David Wales
St George England .
If you are non Christian I can't help you
