Have you checked yours?

Our first trip in the new car was just a problem at the start.
I just assumed everything would work but when hitching up I found the wing mirrors made the Milenco extending ones very difficult to fit but thought I had managed after some time.
I had previously had the twin plugs and used a convertor to connect which I left in place when not in use. I then found I could not get the 13 pin plug in. After about 15 minutes another caravanner helped out and luckily I had had the foresight to get one of the plugs for realigning but even with that we struggled. As a result we set off nearly an hour late.
Having got away the nearside mirror then came off in traffic, luckily I had a spare but this was also clip on, and ended up being tied on with my belt, which worked reasonably well.
Once pitched we found a dealer and got strap on ones, but have to say the quality is not as good as the Milenco ones, but I had a choice of one type. Will have a look round for some better ones though.
I suppose the moral is that when changing the car make sure everything is right for it and you know what you are doing.

On our first trip with our much beloved - "new to us" caravan we had a wonderful time on site. As advised we stayed close to home for our first venture and went only about 10 miles away. We successfully erected our awning, explored all the workings of the van and generally had a good time. Our issues came on our return journey. I had taken my smaller car so I could *** home if we needed anything, which actually was a blessing. As I followed my hubbie towing the van he suddenly indicated and pulled into a lorry park. I dutifully followed to find out that our Ford Ranger had broken down and overheated. The breakdown company arrived and declared that the truck wasn't going anywhere!! So a rather hairy trip ensued whereby the breakdown recovery man towed our precious caravan back to our storage place with a rather nervous and stressed husband by his side. I don't know who felt worse - the driver - as he had never towed a caravan before (agh) or my panicky hubbie!!
