Hawes to Barnard Castle

A lot of the roads around Hawes are not good for caravans and although I have not tried them all I would not want to try. The route out to the A1 at Leeming Bar is workable, but someone may know a shorter passable route. Possibly depends on what your outfit size is on some of them.

I believe the route north out of Hawes is the Buttertubs Pass - great fun in a sports car but many cars will struggle with a caravan.

We came across from Northumberland to Hawes but the roads required care after Catterick and ours was a 7.3M shipping length caravan. The section Caterick to Hawes was twisty with some narrow spots, but forward visibility was okay.
