anyone been here ,have booked up for middle of july,as we have never been to kent before.is there a pub nearbye??
hi gillJohn
If my memory serves me right there is a pub at the end of the lane, within walking distance of the site, serves good food too
john, It was a few years ago that we went to hawthorn farm but it must have been ok because we are going back there is august before catching the ferry to france.hi gill
thats a relief, was the site ok??
thanks for that mikeThere is a pub nearby + shops. A paper shop just across the road from the entrance. Nice site but there is a lot of coming and going because its so close to the ports. They do have a seperate area for poeple using it for over night stops and in case they leave in the early hours so it shouldn't affect you.

bloody hell!!! thats all i want,i work on the railway and thats the last thing i want to hear for a fortnightThe very first time I went to this site was before I owned a caravan and like most caravanners graduated from tenting. I had my 'brand new wife' with me, (We were on honeymoon, on our way to France), she had never camped before. As we pitched the tent I noticed a railway line through some trees and bushes alongside our pitch, the odd train came through during the day, but at night, sleeping on the floor we were awoken by the floor trembling as a train approached, I think it was carrying freight, rocks or ballast or similar, as it moved very slowly.
We often laugh about this as we really did feel the earth move on our honeymoon. Oh happy days!
I have stayed there in recent years and it's a very nice clean site. I seem to remember there is a railway station close by at Martin Mill where you could catch a train in to Dover or Deal, you could buy day ferry tickets for France there also.
We stayed there a few years ago, there is a pub down the road, so you will be able to walk there. Its a really good site, quiet and not over commercialised. It has good facilities and the staff are friendly and helpful. But it is right beside a train line. In fact the train station is just down the road, which could be useful. You get used to the train noise after a while and if you pitch wisely it should'nt really bother you at all. We loved it there!!!!john, It was a few years ago that we went to hawthorn farm but it must have been ok because we are going back there is august before catching the ferry to france.
