Richard, there is no such thing available as far as I know.

Under floor heating works by having a heat mat under the tiles, normally set in cement mortar, with the tiles on top.

If you think about it, if there was a heated tile, how would you connect each one, and when you cut a tile to fit, it would cut the heating element.

Hi Richard, I have just fitted underfloor heating and ceramic tiles in the bathroom at home, as Damian says it is set in cement mortar under the tiles. On the control panel which comes with the kit you can specify the type of floor including laminate flooring. Like you I thought about the possibility of having the underfloor heating in a caravan as the power consumption, (240 volts), is very low.

In my kit you postioned a single continuous heating wire around the areas you wish to heat.

I suggest that you contact Topps Tiles to check out the possibility of fitting under laminate flooring, they gave me a DVD in the store prior to purchase to guide me through the fitting.

Hello Richard,

I don't think this will help a great deal, but for information - I had to do some tests on a product that was offered to a major OEM supplier to the caravan industry. I consisted of a mat/rug, that had a 230V element woven into the product.

This made the mat quite thick (about 8 to 10mm).

It had a number of failings:

The mat got quite hot in small areas, - too hot for comfort.

It began to smell like a carpet warehouse.

The edges began curl up (trip hazard)

It could not be cut to shape.

And if anything was left on top of it it got very hot just in that locality.

The backing started to harden, and split

If it was folded it got so hot that we were concerned it might actually set on fire.

Over all the product was deemed to have been badly conceived, it had not been developed properly, and it had insufficient safety devices included.

The OEM company did not adopt it.

If you are offered any sort of heated mat please be aware of the points I have made above.
