held needed - isolater key

Hi

I wonder if anyone could help me, the question is on the motor mover do you leave the isolator key left in the switch or do you take it out completely. Me and my other half are having a little dispute as what to do with it as im sure if not kept in the switch it might get lost, also quite a big key to keep on a bunch of keys.

thanks in advance.

I was told to take it out of the socket unless being used, I do however leave it in the little compartment where the socket is. Its been like that for 5 years and never lost it

I was told to take it out by the Powrtouch fitter so it stays in the battery locker below the mains socket. Anyone know why we should take it out,it's plastic after all?

I do believe I have. It's probably in one of the 'junk' drawers!!!

im sorry john but they are not "junk draws" but "man draws" we all have them dont we? i know i do....we keep old keys, instuctions for old equipment we dont have anymore and verious odds and sods that we as men think that one day we will find a need for them

I belive this is our right for us men to have draws like this and if the lady of the house complains about the draw tell her its "man law" for us to keep said draw

ps.im only posting this because my lady of my house said it was ok to post it, he he he

Hi. Tracey. We have the Powrtouch and just have one key. When not actually moving the van, the key sits in the battery locker below the mains socket. On site or travelling the locker door is locked so it is fairly safe.

We have to take our key out, as the switch is fitted just below the cable input connection. This was fitted by powertouch fitter as precaution to stop you leaving the swich in the on position.

which would mean that somebody with a simular mover could

actuate your motors,As some people leave their motor drive rollers locked onto their wheels could cause a nasty accident.

Also advised me when you have locked your mover wheels onto your tyres place your handle in the drivers well , this reminds you that you have not dissengaged the rollers.

I have seen a few people on site trying to drive of with the rollers engaged.

We keep the key with the handset in a plastic bag.

I have only one key with my Powrtouch, it`s attatched to the battery strap with a strong cord long enough to reach the switch below the EHU socket which is in the battery compartment

Hi

Do ALL motor movers have isolating keys?

I've got a Truma - can't remember seeing any keys on that - but I'm always ready to be enlightened!

Tracey, I rang Powrtouch, explaining we only had one key and I was worried we might lose it, they sent us a spare key by return post, very efficient!

Powrtouch recommend that you remove the red key, sounds like a good idea to keep it tied on string located in the battery box.

We do find it slightly fiddly plugging the electric cable in as the flick switch is slightly in the way. We now keep the red key with the remote control handset, both in a bag in the car glovebox.

In answer to Mark Mac question, when we first had a motor mover fitted way back 2002 power touch were the only ones that had the isolator fitted , hence my earlier remarks .

I remove mine and put it on the shelf as the plug is at floor level and could be 'kicked' by accident. I also do have the bad habit of forgetting to switch the damm thing off once hitched up and of course when we unhitch the sensors take some time to reset themselves. Call it old age. We also have 2 keys but my wife nearly threw the 2nd one away as she did not know what it was for.
