I'd just like to say Hi, welcome and Good Luck with the internship to Bryony, Practical Caravans new intern who has just done her first Practical Caravan photo shoot according to Facebook (which I know that many forum users don't look at)

Is this Byrony a medical student also as the term "intern" applies only if they are a medical student? However welcome and hope you don't have to apply too many bandages!

Not wishing to involve politics in the debate even Nick Clegg did an internship and I think it was unpaid too. Welcome Bryony.

Internship - any period of time during which a beginner acquires experience in an occupation, profession, or pursuit.

I think we've picked it up from the USA. It's more like cheap labour these days in many cases. Great if you can get experience in a job, but everyone should be paid a fair rate even when training.

I'm sure that Practical Caravan would regard the internship as a valuable grounding in the art of travel and leisure industry journalism with a bit of technical know how about touring caravans and towing regulations thrown in and in a large digital media and publishing organisiation like Haymarket the possibilities are boundless

In the present labour market it's good to see that Bryony, unlike many overly certificated school leavers, has been prepared to start at the bottom, for little or no money to be taught something which will undoubtedly stand her in good stead in the long term
