Been a tent family for a few years but decided to get a caravan, we could'nt stretch for a new one so we went into 2nd hand territory. What a nightmare.
Looked at loads of vans, is this the right term?, and settled on a Abbey GT516, are all five berth caravans rare?
Managed to haggle the price down a bit and bobs your uncle, I was hitching it up to our never used before towbar on my car. Does towing get easier with practise? please say yes. YOu would think i was driving a forty ton truck full of dynamite!! I gave up on reversing, just unhitched the van and turned the car around and re hitched it, much to the amusment of other car drivers.
Aynway got it home hooked it up to the elctrics and went looking for problems and managed to find some. The fuse had blown in the battery charging system so the leisure battery is completely drained and wont charge, so a new battery i think, the cold water tap was broken, so a new set of taps were put on and one of the overhead lights (flouerscent) had blown so a new one of them were fitted. Apart from that i cant find anything else yet.
The weird thing is i cant find any damp at all? I thought i should find some with a twelve , i think, year old van.
So there we are, we are over the moon at the moment, the kids cant stop crawling around it and all being well we are going on a weekend break this weekend.
I do go on a bit, sorry.
