Hello

Getting our first caravan next week - a Bailey Ranger 500/5. Have bought a Kia Sportage to tow it.

Can't wait for our first trip. Will be going locally just to get the hang of it.

Have two young daughters so looking forward to, hopefully, many happy holidays to come.

Well done Margaret

A good combination. The world is your oyster. You'll be amazed just how much there is to see in the British Isles never mind across the channel.

Take your time on your first trip and DO NOT get flustered when reversing into a pitch. We all had to do it for the first time once! If you are directing hubby make sure he can see you. If you can't see him in the mirrors , he wont be able to see you.

Good luck.

Cheers

Alan

Good luck for your first outing Margaret and welcome to the forum.

Ditto what Alan says re taking your time. We only started this wonderful hobby in October and had fun and games reversing onto our pitch. We got there in the end and the second time was much easier. Mind you, we've just has a motor mover fitted to our van so we'll be cheating from now on!

Regards

Claire & Rob

Maragaret - welcome to the world of caravanning and hopefully you will enjoy the new found freedom. However not all of Alan's or Claire and Rob's comments are true - we have been caravanning for almost 39 years and sometimes I still make a pig's ear of reversing and each time I think "hopefully no one will notice" LOL I once did a perfect three point turn with the van on tow and there was no one to witness it unfortunately. Enjoy the experience and hopefully the children will also enjoy the holidays.

"I once did a perfect three point turn with the van on tow".

It was reported in the Pen-Y-Fai Gazette, I remember someone once mentioning it Colyn ap Brydgynd :O)

BTW welcome to the forum Margaret. If you get any problems on site just ask someone, most will help if they can :O)

Thank you for your support. I'm glad hubby will be doing the reversing though not me!!!

I'll report back after our first trip.

Thanks again

Margaret
