Good evening all,

We have returned to pack caravan and checked the far right underside and have come across this it was highlighted on a survey some damp reading in July. I have no idea how water is getting in?

The caravan is a swift sport challenger 586 2015

The van doesn’t smell of damp but I can see spots of mold spots on the side the handles - we’ve not been in it since November so is that normal?

Please advise what we should do?

Thanks we are new caravan owners and this is the first time we have un packed the caravan

What were the damp readings? The most common place for water ingress is via awning rails although window and locker seals can also be culprits as well as panel cracks. Water can track a fair way so it is not always easy to find the source.
A full damp survey may provide further clues.

Morning,

The reading only in that corner was 70 only in that area. if I remember correctly we only bought it in July. I will get the report out and have a better look. Everywhere else was ok from memory.

Thank you

If it was 70% it should have been addressed immediately. The “mould “ in handles may just because it’s been closed down over winter. It’s a bit of a fallacy about smelling damp, it’s more likely a musty smell through being closed up with inadequate ventilation. If you can smell damp then it’s at a serious level.

I agree Mel’s advice and recommend you get a AWS technician in to do a full damp survey.

It simply isn't possible for us on the forum to know exactly what the problem is, as we cannot see the detail. It really needs a someone who can inspect and follow the evidence to be able to diagnose the problem accurately.

You need to find the source of the damp and get it properly treated. With such a high reading I would be concerned the problem has been occurring for some time and may well have already caused permanent damage to some vulnerable parts. You should also be aware the location of the damp reading might be some distance from the actual leak causing it.
