Parksy, however wonderful this product may be, I am amazed you are actively encouraging this topic to run on the forum?
In my opinion, this is a blatant violation of etiquette item 6 "You may not transmit any advertising or promotional material."
Can you please explain why you do not consider this to be the case, so that others will not feel they can ignore the other etiquette rules with abandon?

The originator (Chris) is offering free samples, if the sample is not as good as you would have hoped, simply put it in the recycling bin (plastic bottle etc). No money is being exchanged, therefore there will be no feedback of complaints,

I apologise; I mistakenly thought this looked like someone promoting a new product, and that if encouraged, this could lead to more widespread use of the forum for this purpose. I also thought perhaps he was offering samples for promotional purposes, and not out of the goodness of his heart.
I must have been wrong.

Chris is offering samples for caravanners to test if they wish to do so.
I'm neither encouraging or discouraging members, it's up to them if they want to participate.
I have offered to pass on interested members details rather than them risking posting any details about themselves on the forum.

No disrespect Parksy but I kinda side with Trevor. Yes, the Company is not selling and only offering samples, at this time, but he is getting a data base of potential customers using the Forum as a medium. Possibly a grey area there.
Maybe would have been better to have asked the Company to supply their own webpage/e mail which interested parties could access independently.

Hey, now Trevor and I will be castigated as being only 2 against the 'mob'.
As a 'one off' just put the Company's email on a Post and let everyone do their own thing. Just state it is a favour, and no responsibilty is accepted by you, or the Forum.
By the way, from your 'quick' comment, you have obviously been thinking along similar lines.

I have seen the replies from both Scotch Lad and Trevor and I'm sorry if I have broken any rules it was never the intent.
The product that i'm testing I have used in other Industries and a neighbour of mine suggested that it could be useful to Caravan owners.
I am genuinly trying to get feedback as to the uses of the product, if it gets good feedback then I may try to contact Caravan shops to stock it. I do feel that by not offering free samples for Caravaners to try, how else would they get to know about the product, people are finding it helpful you only have to read replies.

I must confess to a slight feeling of annoyance when I saw Trevor's comment and I thought to myself then that if my action was going to give rise to complaints then I would cease.
I was trying to do our members who wanted this sample a bit of a favour but more than one complaint is the thin end of the wedge, where does one draw the line?
If it's going to annoy people I won't do it so you're right S.L. I was thinking along similar lines.I don't want to set members against each other because there would have been more complaints in the end. I thought that only one or two members would be interested but a trickle is in danger of becoming a flood.
I'll be out visiting my good friend Plotter in the morning and Thursday night is pub night so the thread would have ended anyway because I wouldn't be at home to pass on any more details.
I'll forward the remainder who have asked but that's it.

From a request for a "small handful" of people, 31 have asked to have a sample, now I dont know how big his hands are, but that is the end of this topic.
