Help Please - From the forum "Teckie"

I have tried to change my "Avtar" photo as I the photo downloaded and saved in my profile is not the one shown on my posts, I have deleted all photos held in my profile, and reloaded the photo required, but has not cured the problem.

Where have you got the original photo that you downloaded stored ?
Is it on photobucket ?

Yes it is in Photobucket, but the one that is showing is not in either photobucket or imageshack (other one I use in other forums)

When you go into your account & click on edit :
Move down to the box that says delete picture, tick it & click on save.
Then.
Click on the box saying forum & have a look for one of your posts to see if it is still showing.......

I think you will have to clean out the cookies on your pc if it is still showing, before you try to load another one

Apart from deleting all cookies I have done as you suggested prior to my post but will give it a go

Well this has given me a real headache.

I have deleted all the cookies on my PC (as advised from Sir Sprocket), deleted all known photos in my profile, saved, logged off, closed my explorer, rebooted my PC, relogged on to the forum, noted no photo in my profile, loaded a totally different photo into my profile straight from my PC, which showed. Great (I thought - wrong), when I looked at one of my previous posts, the same dreaded photo appeared, strangely when I click on the "wrong" photo, it takes me to the photo I wanted.

I shall now go boil my head.Would be interesting to see what other members see if they click on my photo.
Feedback please on the back of a "postcard".

Apologies for the delay in my reply to you, I've been away and am only just getting back into the forum....
Don't put the water in the head boiling tub just yet!
Some time ago there was a problem with avatars and the Content Delivery Network software used to cache them, I'll ask the powers that be on Monday if there are still known problems.
For some strange reason text signatures, especially coloured ones, sometimes cause coding conflicts with the forum software, you could try removing the signature text temporarily and then altering the avatar but I can't guarantee that this will definitely work.
You can shrink your avatar picture to the correct size by using this avatar creating tool , 180 pixels should be ok.
If all else fails please post your picture on this thread in a normal comment box using Sprocket's photo uploading technique and I'll have a go for you

I read your comment this afternoon at work on my Blackberry & your avatar had changed, so I presumed that you had got it sorted........
Try deleting it all again & get shut of the cookies.......
Then upload the photo that you want to photobucket & link it from there NOT from you PC .....
I think somehow that is where your problem lies.......
I use photobucket for mine ok.

Thanks guys for your advise, unfortunately I have been unsucessful, I have again deleted photo in profile deleted all cookies and also my text in the signature box. resized the photo through the link provided came to add it to my profile but I can not see how I can add it, I only have the option to "browse" my PC I do not see how I can import from a external source. This problem has only started happening recently, when I originally loaded my photo and then added my signature all was well.

Anyway I will try and add the photo to this post and see if the "Pro's" can help out.

I have managed to get the photo into the signature box, but would sooner have it in the avtar place, if possible please.
I will be working in France for the the rest of the week, so will not be able to look at this until I return on Friday.

I've just tried and unfortunately the picture wouldn't load so it looks as though the problem with the content delivery network has re-appeared.I have to say though that the picture is very large and it would be difficult to re-size it to show the outfit to it's best advantage as an avatar

Funny thing is if i click on your avatar it appears on a new page with the car & caravan photo......

How small do you want it ?

The problem is with the shape, it has to be square

There are quite a few that are not square

57 x 85

85 x 58

85 x 64

85 x 48

I think that the problem is as you pointed out earlier on today, the text colour remember the blank pages caused by it wipeing compleat post out ........

Just returned from working away, Thanks for your help, after looking at the replies, I think the middle photo Sir Sproket suggested would be fine, "as and when" you are able to sort it.

I see my problem has still not been resolved, I take it that this must be a bigger problem than first thought or has the tech team more important issues??

I managed to get rid of your old picture during my attempt earlier today but when I tried to load the new pic the old one came back

As I have been away for a month, re-loaded signature and photo to Avatar and seems working fine now so looks like the boys in the back room have sorted it. Thanks again for your help.
