Help please with 12v

Thanks for looking and possibly helping. I have changed the towing sockets to 13 pin on the car and caravan, I even soldered all the ends of the wires before inserting them to try and get the best connection possible.

The caravan is a 2004 Abbey with Thetford fridge.

The area I need help with is the internal 12 volt, I am not sure if it is working as it should, when the engine is off the lights in the caravan run off the car battery and when you start the car a few seconds latter the internal caravan lights switch off. Also I am unsure as to whether the fridge is working off the car as it has no lights on it and the interior light does not come on when connected to the car. Can anyone tell me if this is the normal.

Thanks simon

Simon, the electrics are working fine!

When the car is started it triggers a habitation relay which cuts power to the caravan except the battery charging circuit and the fridge circuit.

It is a nuisance that lights are not fitted to the fridge, but one way to check is take off the outside fridge vent (lower one ) and look inside and find the two electric elements going into the burner tube.

After running the car with fridge switched to towing position, for about 10 minutes, feel the 12v element (it is marked on the wiring sleeve which is 12v and which s 230v), it should be starting to get hot, if it is , it is working.
