A kerb weight of 6400lb is about 2.8tons and thus is under the 3.5tons weight limit for larger van. If the van you are looking at is over 7m long or 2.3 m wide then you would be breaking the law to tow it. Most British manufacturers make a fixed bed with your other requirements and all will be road legal.

Alan, the limit is based on the GVW of the towcar, not its kerbweight. The GVW is 8600lb or 3900kg which is over the minmum requirement of 3500kg and therefore legal.

Shaun,

An H2 Hummer,

Watch out the thought police will be along in a minute, nice tow car though.

The Hobby 635 is a superb 'van but since you mention the shower i particular I would say that the Hobby has a fairly small hot water tank, although useable, not the best. If you're looking for this type of 'van I would suggest you look at the Weststar. This is almost identical to the Hobby 'van but finished a bit more to British tastes.

Who wants a caravan built for British tastes?

Just change the 5 litre Therme water heater to an 14 litre Truma Elekroboiler......really easy.
