I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a problem my husband and I have right now. We have a buccaneer schooner2014 model and newbies to caravaning. Last week( only our second weekend at this) and our whale water pump started gushing out the side of the van. We finally Sussed it was loose pipes into the plug bit and it seemed to work ok after pushing them back in. Now we have returned this weekend, new pump in hand, problem fixed..... Wrong.. We popped it into Aqua roll, switched it on and... Nothing!!!! It's not working at all. Please please has anyone got any ideas????

Hello Froy

Let me guess but can you hear the pump running, but your not getting any water?

If so it means you probably haven't primed the pump, and there is air in side the pumps impeller. The solution is simple. Unplug the hose from the side of the caravan whilst the pump is in the barrel. That allows the water to displace the air inside the impeller housing. Now reconnect the pipe to the side of the caravan.

If thats not the problem, its difficult for us to resolve over the forum

Good luck and let us know if it helps

The pump isn't running at all. The orange light at the switch goes on and the pressure switch has a green light flashing but the pump does nothing. We have tried two pumps and neither are working. The yellow pressure switch has been replaced as it was corroded from the water spill last week. Unsure what else we can try

I expect that the pressure switch needs adjusting if it is a new one.
There should be an adjuster on it, either a by use of a screwdriver or a knurled adjuster.

Inline pressure switches are normally white , so if its yellow and its connected to the back of the pump inlet? If so this would be a Whale IC pump controller, this is self adjusting. I presume when you replaced it you connected the wires up correctly?
This unit senses a pump running dry so how it shuts this off i dont know only know the unit does it.
I would see if you have 12v on the 2 connectors the outside of the van at the pump connection if yes then pump issue if not then check connections to the yellow pressure switch?

The Whale IC controller which this sounds like needs to be set up occaisionally - perhaps more often than Whale suggest.

Go onto the whale website and you can see the instructions for setting up but these may already be in the Water section of the caravan handbook. The unit is called Intelligent Controller - hence IC and takes only a minute or so to set up but it's worth carrying printed instructions in the caravan

Thanks for all the replies. Still no luck so We've organised for someone to come out to the van and have a look. Hopefully they will suss it out. No doubt one of many obstacles for us to learn from.

Might just be poor connection at the plug as it has been leaking. I use the wife's nailfile card to lightly clean the terminals - but don't tell her;-) 12v systems are notoriously susceptible to high resistance caused by corrosion.
