Hi i have a lunar quasar 526 ive figured most of what does what but not sure what the small pipe above the cassette box/toilet in the outside hatch is. Its a small black rubber tube with a cap on that when taken off it releases water. I think its to empty the flush tank but not sure any help would be appreciated

Hello Andy Jack. We have a 524, aka Eclipse, our first caravan. We started caravanning in our 70's so we were asking these questions a short while ago. The pipe is indeed for draining the toilet flush tank. There are experts on here who will tell you about load balance etc., which is why this forum is so brilliant, but the large amount of water in the tank must put some weight on the offside. Draining the tank is one of the final jobs on our packup routine.

Yes, the small tube is indeed for draining the flush tank, I always leave a couple of litres of flush fluid in the tank for on route, non planned stops.
It's more important to drain down the water heater, that will save 10kg of. Caravan weight.

My last caravan had a 45%-55% makers weight imbalance side to side. Adding a battery only made it worse. Water heater, spare wheel, battery, power electrics, fridge, sink and oven were all forwards of the axle and to the offside. But once loaded it towed very well but unloaded it was very nose heavy so unavoidably stuff had to go behind the axle.

Like Hutch I kept 2 litres of fluid in the cassette and 2 litres of water in the flush tank, for comfort breaks if required en route. Oh and no prizes for guessing which side the loo was on.

As above, it’s to drain the tank. I only use it it in winter to completely empty the tank so there's no water in there to freeze and damage the pump. During warmer months I just use the to flush empty the tank before traveling.

Yes, my Predictive texting didn't "measure" up to my expectations. Sorry.
Whilst away a couple of weeks ago, Mrs H, went to flush the loo. Nothing, no whirr of the pump. I gently pulled away the top sticker on switch cover, measured for power, yes that's there. Unscrewed the small cover into the flush tank, pulled the pump out, the impeller was stuck, using a small screwdriver, rotated the impeller and it unstuck. Lots of limescale around it. But not bad for a 13 years old, pump.
