Help With Satellite Channels

Hi all.
Does anyone know if channel 4 is available on a standard free to air reciever? I could spend time going through 900 channels and still not find it! Also my local(north west) BBC1 seems to be no longer available but I can still pick up every other reigion BBC1. I have done a re-scan on the system but still no joy.

Thanks, Dan.

If you are running something like the Maplin system then what you really need to do is go into menu and do an uninstall and reinstall but save time here and set your install to free only and you will cut down on the rubbish you cant get anyway.
You then find channel four and channel five are in there, sadly you will find also that no 1 on remote control is channel 4and all regions are together so you will find them all in one block sort of thing .
Any problems ask a Mod for my emaill address and i will talk you thro its easy once you have done it, and I run that system from home as well.

Hi Dan, our free to air reciever is a "Goodmans" and when we bought it we had to set up the reciever so it would pick up our local station on the BBC. We had to put our post code in it to do that. Usually when the reciever has scanned the channels it will put them in channel order and the five normal channels are first. Some different units scan and put ALL the channels in so you will get every BBC1 channel for the whole country. Channel four is definatly there to watch. On ours we cannot get 5usa.
If you can just get the channel list up on the screen then you can put the most used ones into a favourite list which most recievers have now.Let us know what reciever yours is please then we might be able to get more info for you.

Thanks all.
Played about with it at the weekend and managed to find my missing channels, moved them up to the top and all is good(for now).
Thanks again, Dan.
