Herzim strip renewal

Im looking at replacing the herzim strip on the awning rail (approx 10m) , are their any tools to avoid fingers and thumbs being sore?

I have used a small plastic artists palette knife to run the second side in having inserted the first side. Take care not to stretch the strip as you fit it and maybe don’t trim the ends until it has cooled and settled just in case of slight shrinkage. If fitting round the door I would ensure that the join is in the centre at the bottom just so any rainwater getting in can escape at that point.

I have one of these tools for fitting rubber seals to aircraft windows, I think you can buy them on Amazon and Ebay.
