Hello everyone!

My wife and I are completely new to caravanning; after years of camping we've decided to upgrade to see how the other half live! We have been looking around for a van that best suits our need with a 2yr old and also having friends/family to stay for a visit. We have finally just secured a seasonal pitch for this summer so we can get used to everything before venturing out on the road. So all we now need is a caravan, looking at a Bailey Pageant Provence at the moment but we're going to the caravan show next weekend in Manchester to have a good look round.

Hi Hayden and welcome

It might be worth getting in touch with the nearest Bailey dealer if you are considering buying from new. Most dealers are happy to service your caravan but are reluctant to carry out any warranty work that may become necessary, and if you buy from a show the dealer who supplies the caravan could be miles away from your home town. Contact your nearest dealer, tell the salesman that you are in the market for a new caravan and see what kind of deal they can come up with, remembering to include awnings, accessories etc in the deal. Mention that you are thinking of buying from the show and see if they will match any deal that you can strike at the show. If you can get a similar deal locally then you save the expense of travveling miles for any repair work later.

Hi Hayden and welcome. We seriously considered the Pageant Provence when buying our first caravan last year - we really liked the L shaped lounge as we all like to snuggle up together in the evenings. In the end we went for a Geist AK495 as it suited our family's needs better as it has 3 separate beds for our 3 lads but the Bailey is a lovely van.

Good luck - I'm sure you'll find something to suit your needs.

Regards

Claire & Rob

Hi Stephen

We only got it in October and had a 6 night break then. No problems so far and we absolutely LOVE IT!

We did a lot of research before we plumped for the Geist with bunk size being an important factor as our 11 year old is already as big as his mum! When we looked at British built vans they appeared flimsy by comparison to the German built Geist. We have the optional extras - Heki rooflight and stabiliser as we got a 2006 van with these already on We had a microwave fitted by Geist underneath the oven and they did a superb job. We find the layout fantastic and it was lovely and cosy on those cold, windy October nights. All in all, we are delighted with our choice and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. We're just hoping that all remains well but so far so good. We did look at the AK560 and liked it very much but, as we're new to towing, we thought we ought to opt for the slightly smaller and slightly lighter AK495 which is a better match for our towcar.

We can't wait to get out again at Easter.

Regards

Claire & Rob
