Hi from Andy,Helen,Charlie & Katie.

we bought an old fleetwood last year and towed around france for a month.Normandy,Royan,Biaritz,Sete and then Paris,I thought Id hate the close proximity but we enjoyed it,We soon learnt what worked and what didnt and it was great to meet others and learn from them.every site was better than i expected and we have now thrown away the airport directions and bought a new combination.we swopped the galaxy for a new vw passat estate and have bought a new dethleff 520 kamper due next week.We have a week booked in at the caravn club site in abbeywood for half term and then in the summer we are heading back down to Macon for a week to a beautiful site then upto the loire valley for a week.the plan is to spend the next few years biting off bits of europe, chilling, enjoying teh fresh air and generally avoid the package holiday "herding factor".

Welcome to the forum.

You're very brave heading abroad in your first season! We picked up our first caravan last October and absolutely love the life! We have been part-time tent campers on and off for a few years and had lots of holidays in static caravans but like the idea of having our own set up with beds that only we sleep in! We looked at the Dethleff range and really liked them but in the end plumped for a Geist which is actually very similar to some of the Dethleffs. We have a 5 berth with fixed bunks that works really well for our family of Mum, Dad and 3 boys.

Enjoy!

Hi

We bought our first caravan last autumn, and having used it throughout the winter, are off for three weeks to tour around France this summer. Overnight ferry from Poole to Caen, then drive to the Loire for a couple of nights. Then we drive down to the Dordogne for 12 nights, before heading up to Paris for the last few nights and then get the ferry back to Pompey.

We probably wouldn't have been brave enough to do it this summer, but we are going in convey with some friends whcih will make it a bit less daunting.

Can't wait though...

David
