Hi All. Just joined the forum.We have been caravanning for about 16yrs and the kids (4) have gone!(great fun in a caravan on a rainy day!) So me and her indoors have a brand new Avondale Argente 650/6 (Jan 06) and plan to go for it now! but I hear that things were not good with Avondale in 2005! Lots of faults etc. Unfortunately, the van is paid for. Any of you with a 2005 model (Dart, 655/4 etc)know anything about this.We have everything crossed in the hope that Avondale have sorted out the problems for the 2006 range. We had a Avondale Leda Pennine for 16 yrs before it went to the great caravan park in the sky and never really any problem!

Hi Merv welcome to the forum. We had an ABI Globetrotter for many years and under a whim sold it and bought a brand new Bailey Ranger 500/5. Worst thing we ever did. We were jinxed with the new van from day 1. The van itself was brilliant but the luck we had was unbelievable between the wife's sickness, then my sickness, etc. we had very little use out of it before it was written off in an accident. The ABI was old, dry and comfortable and had characture to it and apart from routine servicing, tyres, etc. it did not cost us a penny. It was in excellent condition when we sold it and had three couples chasing us for it as it was so good. Hindsight is marvellous - if only.

Thanks Colin. Sounds like your old van was as good as our old van- Is it me or has everything been dumbed down in the interests of MAMON!- Going to South of France with it in Aug so I just hope that it behaves itself! Off to Norfolk May Bank Hols so that will be some sort of test I guess?
