Hi,From the US

I love reading your forums on caravaning. Here in the states we call it camping or full timing. The full timing term is used if you travel the US after retiring. Some of us sell our houses live and travel in our 5th wheels, motor homes or travel trailers.I've chose to full time until I either get tired of doing so or I cannot do it anymore.I have some trouble understanding exactly what type of caravans(trailers) you have. I travel in a 36 foot 5th wheel with 3 slides and my tow vehicle is a Chevy Duramax truck. We also have forums here to help each other with problems, maintance and other issues.Looks like I'm running out of space to post.

Hi Dick.

Your rig would fill our roads I guess and with fuel costing around $8 a gallon here its just as well our caravans are smaller!

If you click on the buying tab above these postings you can find links to our manufactures and see makes such as Bailey or Bessacarr and others that we tow.

Hiya Dick, welcome to the forum. You are going to find our roads narrower than the ones you are used to. Don't let that put you off coming over here though. The American RV market is a thriving business over here, with many large rigs on the road (maximum legal width 8 foot 4 inch) and a sprinkling of 5th wheel rigs. We don't have the space on site that you see in the USA but you still get a friendly welcome and the weather is always a good conversation starter, we are after all, from the UK.

As for a typical caravan in the UK, it's best to have a look at one of the manufacturers web sites.

http://www.bailey-caravans.co.uk/
is a good example of a well regarded company.

Any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. You may find some heading your way.
