Just joined the forum all the way from South Africa!

Been caravanning for the last 26 years or so out here., bought the first van in 1999. Recently sold her and replaced her with a somewhat more upmarket van that includes a bathroom (shower) slide-out kitchen and cassette loo as well as an A/C and movers....the new one is much more suitable for near-70's people like us! Will over time try to share some pics of SA caravans and camping sites. Our current tow vehicle is a Ford Ranger 3.2 turbo diesel double cab pick up - she's a beast of a tow vehicle. We live in a small village (Irene) just south of Pretoria. As far as the UK is concerned we have lived from 1991 to 1994 in Wootton, Bedfordshire before returning to SA. Best take away from that experience was that we now have a fondness for British Bitter and Brit pubs! Looking forward to sharing experiences of the camping kind!

Hi and welcome to the forum. I am looking forward to the pictures of your outfit and SA sites.

Note that this is not the easiest of forums to post too. There are topics on how to do this.

Although I don't remember any of it, I must have passed through Irene as I lived in Benoni for awhile in the mid seventies before moving down to Durban. Originally from Cape Town. We used to go to Billy's baked potato restaurant in Pretoria.

When living in Durban we had a small fold up caravan that we used on the south coast. Family of 5 at the time. Stayed in Uvongo and also down at Leisure Bay near Port Edward.

Welcome to the forum, you would not recognise the Wootten area, totally built up now, but the two pubs are still there, Fox and Duck and The ****. (Cockerel)

Welcome to the Forum. A most enjoyable recount of your travels and of course the British Bitter. Not sure what you get in SA but I’ve noticed for a while now we getting more of the excellent SA Red wines that disappeared off the shelf a few years ago.

I hope there no nasty Mambas when go out caravanning😜
