Can anyone help me,

I have a ford mondeo 2006 edge 20ltr 130bhp when i bought the car it had a tow bar fitted to it its a removable hitch. when i went to hitch my lunar gemeni up to it the ground clearance between the jocky wheel and the floor is hardly any can i have some help if anyone has towed with an edge before.

Hi Kevin.

I have no experience of the Mondeo

Forgive me if you've check this but is the caravan running with too much nose weight? It should be 7% of the weight of the caravan, i just go for 50-70Kgs though!

You can remove the jocky wheel when towing too if than helps, i do as i tend to clout speed bumps with it towing with a Grand Voyager.

Hi Kevin- I have the same car (2007) towing a Coachman Amara 450/2 and have a similar problem.I have a fixed towbar (Anker)Checked all measurements and they are within spec.The Edge was a special model to help sell off the old Mondeo range and I thought they might have changed the suspension etc. Contacted Ford but they say its a standard set up.I am paranoid about what I carry up front in the van and in the car - only have one gas bottle and 110v battery forward of axle,but van still tows nose well down.Have stopped taking things like porch awning to keep general weight down.I have no problems with the stability of the van,and the power of the car is first class. Car fitted with Hancoock tyres

I tow an Abbey GTS Vogue 416 with a Mondeo 130bhp Zetec and it hardly drops at all no have my previous Mondeo's.I have had Anker bars in the past as they are made a couple of mile away and they did always seem to be low but since switching to Witter no problems

have a mondeo esate and i tow a 2008 bailey series 6 and to help out on the suspention i fitted spring assisters and this set up works well

I too have a Mondeo 2L 130 bhp and tow an Abbey Vogue 217 with a witter tow bar attached.

No drop at all - this is my second witter, can't rate them highly enough.

well going back to your reply with referance tow bars for mondeo i have done a bit of resurch.

i contacted witter and they told me there is a modification out to the tow bar it should be fitted with tow bar serial number (F108B) this sit higher to the bumber they had a number of complaints when the tow bar firts came out you can get a new one from around

we have a 130 TDCI estate 2004 model ,and i just went out and stood on the tow ball ,i weigh 89 KG ,thats 6.36 over there hitch weight ,and it only went down half an inch
