Hi we are booked on to the above site for our summer holiday in July and are extremely looking forward to it. I know it is about 10 miles off the m5 motorway and was wondering what the roads were like for these 10 miles as I have quite a large caravan and was wondering if there would be any potential problems with narrow roads etc. Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks!!

Hiya we went to Hillhead last year for 3 weeks and didnt wanna come home. Love the site, love the area and the wardens are great.

We have a bailey senator wyoming 26ft twin axel. we couldnt get the van onto the pitch because the roads where we was are to narrow. our pitch was slightly sloping so even the mover couldnt put it on. they offer a service to tractor it on with there mini tractor and thats what we did. when we was ready to leave we just went up the office and asked them to tractor it off. it depends what pitch you choose.

the 10 miles roads after the M5 are no problems. At the last round about you will bear left just take you time because you could miss the entrance that would be bad.

it has a lovely pool with paddling pool, a mini arcade, take away a bit expensive but nice food. club house isnt as big as what you think but big enough. there patio heaters and you can take your dog onto the patio.

the play area can get noisy at night times with the older kids so if you want a little quiet dont pitch near the play area.

i love brixham and dartmouth is the most beautiful place i have ever been to.

we loved it that much we are going for 9 night before we head off to longleat and i cant wait.

just ask me if there anymore you need to know.

thanks

Francis,

The route to Hillhead is an easy one. The roads are all good roads from the M5 onwards. There's a steep hill to drive up as you get onto the A38 and a steep hil as you drop down towards Paignton on the A380.

Hillhead is great site but a bit tight in places. We've got a 26ft TA and some of the pitches would have been a squeeze. We stayed in the peak season and there was an extra 'camping' section field open (to the left behind the the play fort) which had lots more room.

Have a good one.

Hi Francis,

We visited the site for 2 weeks in summer 2007, and agree with everything Joanne said, its a great site.

We've also got a 26ft Senator Wyoming, and on arrival the only pitches available were on the camping field Glen's mate mentioned. However, i'm pleased we ended up on there, the end we were on was 'vans only, and after a wander round the site, it seemed we had loads more room compared to the majority of the hard standings, which did seem as if they would be a tight fit with a large 'van.

Hope you enjoy your stay,

Lara.

Hi,

We are booked into Hillhead for a week in July. The first time we've been, but hear nothing but good reports, as is backed up by your goodselves.

On the " a bit tight " aspect, do the pitches have a good outlook or are they really packed in. I don't think they will be really bad seeing as it's a Caravan Club site, but it's one of the things that we tend to try to avoid in sites.

On the " camping field " does this have a good outlook ? Can you see the hills, fileds, sea around or is it just the other vans ?

We'll still be going, but just looking for more info to see where's best to pitch, near the play area.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Alex.

alex this is a really hard ? to answer. Some of the pitches are quite tight, some are hard to get onto but theres always the tractor service. Some are easy to get onto aswell. i wouldnt say they are packed in at all. i wouldnt say all the pitches are the same either. some have sea views some have play area views some have each other views. theres so many pitches. when are you going?.

No problem Jo-Anne, I appreciate your reply.

I've had a good look at the site map on the CC website and Google Earth, so kinda know the layout. Our perfect pitch would have 1) direct view of the playarea, 2) sea / hills / countryside views and 3) spacious pitch. Asking for the earth I think, LOL ! I'm sure it'll be great.

We're booked in for 8 nights 9th of July.

Cheers,

Alex.
