Would just like to say big thank you to the driver who reversed into my car on Saturday evening with so much force that you have raised my towball by about 1.5 inches.

You must have hit the "Striker plate"which has forced the towball up and the plate has been pushed well and truly into my rear bumper causing a nasty crease, not to mention the untold damage caused to the actual towball and neck.

Brilliant......

Going to have to book the car into my garage now to get it all checked before i can even think about towing with it.

You didnt realise you struck my car??? Of course you didnt.

Oh well......Moan over....Thanks once again.

Sory to hear that Adrian

What scum some people are.

We got rear ended two years ago the tow bar taking the main whack. The Insurers approved repairer insisted the whole towbar assembly was replaced, just in case .....

Well I didn't pay the bill and clearly they were concerned that the lifetime integrity of the assembly may have been compromised.

Cheers

Whoever hit you must have one helluva dent in their car and their repair bill will be a lot higher. Probably find that the driver of the offending car was over the limit or it was a stolen car.

Hi Adrian

So sorry to hear of your troubles however like Dustydog I had a rear end shunt last year when a careless driver stated he didnt see my honda crv stop and went into the back of me.

The insurance company insisted I had to have a complete new tow system as they could not be sure and no way of feasibly testing for hairline fractures etc.

Again they paid so was greatful.

Hope you get sorted and not too expensive.

Cheers

John

Pat

We have three dents scratches and dings on two doors and the front wing.

Too small to claim but will cost me a few hundred. I never bothered.

I can say however they always appear when the Maimsahib has been shopping to Tescos.

Cheers

Hi everyone,I have successfully claimed twice against ASDA,for damage to my cars, caused by trolleys.

The first claim was paid in full by cash, the secnond by ADSA store vouchers.

Anthony.

Know how you feel, in the past people have hit our car and not put a note saying phone number ect, like the good old days, but that the sign of the time now, even where I work last friday some office worker put a dent in the front wing of my mate car, it turn out to be the boss, as he was driving the wife little car, so that problem is now sorted out, Trevor

Sorry to here that Adrian. But think on the bright side that tow bar must have put one hell of a hole in his or her car.

Down here in West sussex 2 out of 10 drivers have NO Tax NO insurance and NO MOT on there cars.

When i asked my local police about this issue. "Yes its a big problem and growing each day". It makes you think should I bother getting tax/insurance knowbody else seems to bother now days.Must be one of these old custom and practise things from the past.

Stephen it is sad fact that the government has forced up the cost of ownership of a car by raising taxes etc to a degree where many people have difficulty in paying the road tax for the year yet they need their car to earn a living or may just to look for employment.

In essence the government is forcing people to become criminals. I don't condone it at all but I know that we struggle to pay road tax and insurance on our vehicles never mind the cost of servicing them.

We are now in the situation of having to sell one fo the cars and this will make it very difficult for me to obtain a job as we live in a semi rural area and for me public transport is out of the question.

So in a way I understand why there are so many untaxed vehicles on the road.

Yes we two are in this situation of having sold one of our cars and we have sold the caravan. This has made it very difficult for us to obtain a jobs. As we to live in a semi rural area. Public transport is out of the question. As you have to be Rich to use it now days. The trains and Buses are just so expensive we only wish to ride on them not buy the bloody thing. At the moment we have a little ford fiesta 1.2 0 to 60 in about half hour with a following wind.

What a load of rubbish, If you can't afford to run a car, the the answer is simple, Don't have one. There can be no excuse for running a car without tax, insurance or an M.O.T. Why do people think that everybody else can pan, but they shouldn't.

Thank you for all your replies.

Although i now cant prove it,im sure it happened outside of our local chipshop.

when i went in,there was nothing parked behind me.

When i came out after about 15 minutes,i noticed a very nice Toyota Landcruiser amazon parked behind me with a tow bar.

"Very nice" car i remember saying to myself and didnt think anymore about it.

Whether it was this car or not....im not sure, but i would imagine it would have to have been hit by a car such as this to cause the towbar to rise as it has and the "Striker Plate" to be pushed into the bumper.

You are very quick to rubbish off the reason probably because it is true that the government is creating a new criminal class due to high taxation on motor vehicles. You seem to forget that millions of people have lost their livlihood due to this recession through no fault of thier own and cannot afford to pay road tax etc so they chance it. I don't agree with it but it is a fact of life.

I can't afford a Rolls Royce, but maybe I should just take a chance and steal one. If you can't pay your way in life, then change your life and live within your means. Lots of people loose their jobs, but they don't all just stop paying for everything.People should take responsibility for themselve and get a grip.

We had a cracker of an incident in our local car park.

Some "nice person" clobbered our car. They left a note, but it said.

I'm leaving this note because folks are watching, they think I'm leaving my address, but tuff!!!!

Probably just as well I didn't catch the fool doing that as they would of needed a medical check up from the neck up.

On the other hand my wife had a chap drive out of a side road into the side of our stationary (Morris Marina)in a que of traffic. She rang me and I raced up there. After speaking to the drive nicely. He wrote out a conffession that the damage to our car was caused by him and signed it.

My insurance broker has a copy of the letter framed on her wall. It was the first time she'd seen a written conffession. I was asked if I had held him up by his throat until he signed, but I said "no for once he was just so embarassed that he wrote the note all by himself".

Unfortunately, being local disco musscle in the 80's does get one a reputation. Not earned I might add, I can be a "gentleman" 99.9% of the time.

Pass me a HALO!!!I am a saint I am!!Many years ago when parking my car I dinked the car next to me.There was no body in it so I waited and when the driver returned I pointed it out to him and gave him my telephone number. He rang a day later to ask for an exorbitant amount of money for the repair. HIMSELF went to look at the damage and came back furious. After much discussion it appears a settlement of

Regarding rear end damage, first though sorry to learn about yours. We had a Primera and wife had just come out from her firm so travelling about 20/25 duel carriage way when this guy struck her in the back.As it was dark could not see how much damage but after looking at it in daylight was amazed she had not been injured, the whole back had been pushed forward without hardly any paint flaking and bumper slightly tilted. inside boot floorpan rippled. It cost his insurance megabucks as apparently he was speeding and had not known about the road layout.
