I recently purchased a Hitchdrive for my Elddis Hurricane XL1000 2 berth, initially fitting it was fine, but i soon discovered it stopped me from gaining access to the gas locker which i found annoying. But i then took the caravan out of the driveway to wash last weeked and found that when moving moving the caravan in either front or back and turning at the same time then handle was catching the gas locker door and it is a hassle to keep turning the handle so it does not catch. I don't know if this is a problem with other caravans or just mine. I don't know if the shaft of the hitchdrive was shorter i.e the unit was shorter whether this would help. But i am pleased i discovered this before going out on the road. It would be a very helpfull device if it was not for this problem but i am going to sell mine now and get back what money i can.

Hello Andrew,

I am sorry to read that you have found difficulties with using the Hitchdrive. Your comments regarding fouling of the drive handle on bodywork is yet another negative issue with these devices.

If you search this forum you will find several threads relating to the suitability of different types of movers, and sadly the 'hitch' mounted movers do seem to have rather limited abilities. You may find some of the comments quite informative, but not very helpful in your situation.

I will take a look but i am going to write to the manufacturers regarding this matter, as i am sure there will be many other owners of hitchdrive who have faced the same problem

Hitchdrive free to a good home if you will collect from Norfolk.

It does not answer your question but I think it is of even less use than a chocolate fireguard.
