Hi Denise,

I was one of those who recommended SB to you. We have also been to Bashley on several occasions. Bashley does have its own merits, there is a massive football field, also some tennis courts and there is the choice of indoor/outdoor pool (same as SB) however the indoor pool has a fun slide and the outdoor one is great in the height of the Summer as it is a bit of a suntrap.

The pitches are reasonable size and the place is clean, but there are only a limited number of multi service pitches though. Also on departure day you have to be off by 10 (and they mean it!!) whereas SB departure is 11.

Bashley is fine if you want to be nearer the coast,SB is more inland and a lot more rural.

I think that although the club facilities at Bashley are good, they can be a bit rowdy at peak times, mainly due to the arcades being in the same complex. At SB the arcade is much smaller and better controlled and well away from the entertainment area.

Denise,

Sandy Balls for us every time. Most pitches are fully serviced, spaced well apart and the village/entertainment area is very well set out. Although the site is big, you don't really notice it. Situated at the top end of the New Forest it is near some towns and not to far from the coast if thats what you want. However you don't really need to leave the site as it has everything you need. The shop is well stocked and quite well priced. Departure is 11am, which is the only downside. If you are still unsure, after Xmas they normally do

Hi Denise we love Sandy Balls its our favourite campsite and we've been to quite a few now. They have a beautiful riverwalk on the campsite there is so much to do without leaving the site. We have been there when its full in the touring section and it still didn't seem crowded. Well spaced pitches with hedges in between quite alot of them. Don't think you will be disappointed. Mandy

Hi Denise

The last time I went to SB I noticed they did have fishing on site, I went with my sister and her husband and he thought he might give it a try next time we go. SB is a brilliant site, I am sure you will enjoy it.

Hi Denise,

I am not into fishing, so dont actually know the answer, however the River Avon runs down past the site, in fact I believe that the site may even own the rights to part of the river so I think that they might do licences. Why not give them a ring on 01425 653042(I even have their number saved in my phone memory) and have a chat with one of their receptionists.

Denise,

If you have bikes then I would take them - if not you can hire them on site. There are some great family friendly cycle routes going from the site.

We go every easter. Great site.

Denise,

If you don't have dogs then you may prefer North Field, as this is a no dog area. The other fields, ie Four Acres or Orchard do allow dogs on them. Having said that, some of Four Acres pitches are hedged off for more privacy. There is a large kids play area at the bottom of North Field, and a smaller one on Four Acres.
