After much searching and considering facts and figures, ive actually gone and done it....ive bought one(well..put a deposit down on one).

Although my Mondeo has the same size engine, the Honda is about 130 kg heavier, has an extra 25kg noseweight limit, and an added bonus of 4 wheel drive on slippery grass and snow(Its not a fully fledged 4 wheel drive i know, but it may help).

So now i will be spending most of the weekend preparing the mondeo for sale.

If anyone hre may be interested its an 06 2.2tdci Titanium X hatch,(that nice light blue colour) with genuine 39,400 miles.11months mot,4 new tyres.

I have 2008 CRV ex cdti, I know others will dissagree but I switch of traction control and on wet fields the 4 wheel drive locks better and pulls out better than with it switched on- don't know why that is towing Europa 620.

regards

Ah...you have the newer model....very nice.

We couldnt quite stretch to one quite as new and am getting an "06" reg.

I dont think we would need the 4 whell drive much but the extra kerbweight and higher towball figure would help us.(Extra peace of mind too).

Hi Darryl.

I have it advertised on a well known auction site.

I have a reserve on it which is what a dealer has offered me in part exchange.

Hi again Darryl.

We are picking up a 2007 Bailey Pageant Champagne which has a mtplm of about 1410kg which i believe would have been about a 90% match.

Wouldnt have had any problem with the weight and as for the power......well...2.2tdci...155bhp..again..no problem.

Decided on the Honda CRV mainly because ive driven hundreds of them at the docks where i worked and loved them, also,i liked the idea of an extra 25kg towbar limit especially as the grandson will be coming away with us soon on our various "jaunts" in the caravan with all the bits and pieces that go with youngsters.

Our Lunar was only 1090 miro, and we didnt really know we had it on the back of the Mondeo.

Best wishes to George and Ade! I tow with the same model :06 CRV Diesel. Great car, cannot fault it. I tow an Abbey Vogue 2 495 top weight 1485Kg.Keeps up with the flow and returns approx 29-30 mpg towing (I do not drive fast with the van but usually 55-ish on M way) Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

All the best, Derek

Thanks Derek.

Can i ask a question.

Does yours have the reversing sensors?

If so,do you have a switch that you can turn off the "bleeping" noise if you want?

I have a mobile Towbar fitter coming on Monday to fit the towbar and twin electrics and he asked the same question.

Thank you,

Adrian

Hi Adrian, Yes, my CRV does have reversing sensors but I have no way of switching off the bleep. I can't really say that it bothers me in fact have never really thought about it!I have a detachable Witter swan neck ball which was recommended by the dealer because a fixed ball may have interfered with the sensors.I have changed the twin electrics on the car for a 13 pin socket (after buying a new van). That was quite straightforward to do.Any further info required ...don't hesitate to ask. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply Derek.

I picked my CRV up yesterday.

As you say.....its great.

I cant find a switch to turn off the sensors either, but im having a mobile towbar fitter out on Monday to fit the bar with a detachable swan neck like yours and he said that he could fit a switch to turn off the sensors when the van is on the back.

The only fault with the car is the Sat Nav.

It seems so out of date(I suppose the disc is about 4 years old now).

Im certainly not paying
