Honda CRV decision !!!

HI All

In the next 3 week ,i plan to get a CRV ,probably around the 1999 year .If anyone knows of any reason why i may be stabbing myself in the foot ( as a tow car , also financially ) , then please voice up, as no cash has been laid out yet.I will be towing a 2005 adria 502dk.

I have a max price of around £6500.

Please dont make this into a 4x4 court room session as this is not the intention.

Hi,

The CRV of 1999 vintage will be a 2.0l petrol. No Diesel versions were made till 2005. Fuel costs will be an issue. Not sure how the petrol tows compared to the diesel version but im sure someone will be along shortly to comment on that!

is there not a relatively low nose-weight on the petrol CRV's?

I had a feeling it was 60Kgs, which has been upped to 100Kgs on the newer Diesel versions.

perhaps check this out further before committing.

I Have towed with a 2002 CRV for the past 4 years Bailey ranger 510

MPG 20ish when towing 25 - 30 solo

Best car I have ever towed with no problems

thanks for the replies,at the mo i have a freelander ( yes you read this right ) a 1.8 r reg , ( yes K series ) , so anything else im sure will be better.

i need the crv to be multi-purpose IE : commute to and from work , also as a tow car , so the mpg may have to be a bit better?

im open to sugestion ?

Top selling car in the US for a time, Honda have never had a failure of a V-Tec, they start and stop every time and dealers are very highly rated. I would have one tomorrow but I'm not old enough yet !! Seriously a very good car

I drive a quite high mileage a year and never (apart from the Type R) see a drive of a Honda under 50 !! Funnily I was teasing a guy at work who was test driving the new accord and he said he was by far the youngest customer in a dealers the other day and he is 42 !!

Very good cars .. As the avert says "never raced or rallied "

Not strictly true Monkey. I have heard of failures of the V Tec in its performance version. However Honda has covered the breakdowns by accusing the owners of not maintaining the vehicle. The reason? Honda quotes that the engine oil should be checked when filling the car with fuel, if you do not, then it's the owners fault. Of course, we all check the oil when filling, don't we.....
