Honda versus Kipor

Hi

can anyone help me with a bit of advice about gennies? I have used a Honda suitcase type in the past and its been very good (it was a borrowed one) Have now decided its time to buy one for myself but Hondas are VERY pricey. I've seen the Kipor ones advertised on ebay for a fraction of the price and so have been looking at them. Does anyone have any thoughts on these - is the old adage "you get what you pay for" applicable here?

The Kipor generators are unlicenced copies of the Honda which are no longer being imported or sold following legal action by Honda.

thats interesting - these are "brand new" - if they are copies are they no good then?

Good copies can be as good as originals - the Kipor generators weren't on sale for long enough to establish properly - it doesn't surprise me what gets sold on eBay - I'm not a fan.

Hi, I have a kipor gennie, model KGE1000Ti sinemaster digital inverter, the yellow one, I have had it since Dec 2005, very pleased with it. google it there are many suppliers other than ebay. Hope this helps Regards Chris

Ii have a Kipor 2000ti, digital inverter generator and it is a great bit of kit.

The Kipor/Honda problems have been resolved, as I understand what I have read, and they are available again

thanks for all your help guys - I was a bit wary that the price might be too good to be true - will do a bit more digging around but suspect that I will go ahead and get one - it's always good to find someone else who has used oneand thinks its ok.

Aileen, I do not know if they still fit a rather inferior spark plug, but it is worth just changing it in case for a NGK CR6HSA

Hi Aileen.

Go ahead with the Kipor. We live in Scotland were the power supply can be a bit iffy in winter. We have purchased a Kipor diesel genny for the house and on a dummy run it supplied a big fridge freezer, the oil fired central heating, two computers.This proves it supplies a true sine wave A/C. The television and numerous low wattage lights. The output is 2,000 watts (2KW) and was
