Is the water heater kaput?

Hi all, my dad has recently bought a 2005 ACE award nightstar caravan and for an older van that was cheap and cheerful, it is! Well, apart from the one problem we've come across. Last week testing/trying everything out I connected my full gas canister from my caravan and began testing cooker etc...

Now, I did the usuals, open the taps to let the air out, waited a good half hour or so before switching on the water heater switch (I assume for electric?) and again left for half hour to make sure it would heat up. Tried the tap, nothing but cold water. SO, seeing the other panel with on/off switch next to a light for gas I switched this on, heard the starter clicking aaaaand the light came on saying no gas. Yes the cover on the flue is off and the water drain tap is closed ;)

Looking over to the oven which was up to temperature nicely, the gas was very much coming through the van. Fridge clicked onto gas as well, checked the isolator valves and all good there.

Tried the reset methods, waited 15 minutes to restart on gas again and still clicking, and the red light saying no gas. Would this indicate the unit is broken all together as neither electric or gas are not working? I read somewhere about potential air in the gas line, but kept trying the restart procedures to no avail.

If anyone can shed light on this please, even if to say yes don;t bother just get a replacement that's ok. I just don't to go replacing loads of parts etc.. when don't need to.

I've attached a picture of what the switches look like

Kind Regards

Stu

Check for a separate gas stop **** for the heater.

The picture shows the emersion in the off position. Is that where you tried it?
