I am referring to the size of your insurance renewal quote.I have just got mine from the CC at £398 after dicounts for Abbey Vogue GTS 2004 at £16k all up value. This is about double what I pay for my car of the same value. It is Standard 5cs giving 3year new for old.The renewal is 25th Feb but the van is not three years old until April so do I pay for new for old now or part way into the year when it becomes three years old or at next years renewal. Also my current premium is new for old yet to get it extended to go beyond that I have to have Super 5cs which is dearer still yet both are for the same replacement value.

Finally who gives new for old over 3yrs at a good price, and is their a comparison web site for caravan insurance like there is for gas and electric.

I don't know about the caravan as we are without at present, but as I paid more for my main car than for both your car and van last year after full no claims. It don't sound bad!

New for old cover has to be well worth while whilst you can get it.

If the vans gets written off they take price based on dealer trade in normaly. And OUCH that can hurt. We know first hand and NFU were very very fair with us!

Your 16k van may be worth a lot less to a dealer when 3 or so years old ! I would hold on for old for new as long as possible.

When my in laws had to insure their caravan last year thay were in the same postion as you are in now, Plotter. there caravan became three years old part way through their policy, however they insured in for the standard C's.

However when they came to claim, when their caravan was stolen, it was now over 3 years and so they did not get new for old cover for the caravan, only the market value.

We also made the mistake of not insuring it enough, i looked around on the internet and found the price of a new 2006 caravan, same spec as mine, however when it come down to it we were underinsured by
