how do i know if my caravan has a ??????

an Al-Ko Chassis on my caravan one of the legs that u put down when u site wont go down so wewant to replace it

the caravan is a abi ace vicory 6 berth3 legs fine but the one on the back isnt working any ideas?

Hi,

If one of the caravan steadies (corner legs) won't wind down (or up) then the most likely cause is that the trunnion nut has broken up.

When you spin the shaft on the steady, a nut moves along a threaded shaft - forcing the leg down. Just like a car scissor jack.

These trunnion nuts can be replaced by a competent DIYer, local caravan shop should have replacements on hand - but there are two sizes - so you'll need to remove the nut before you go - and make an assessment of the condition of the other trunnion nuts - and buy a complete set of four more if you think these will also need replacing.

Alternatively you can replace the whole steady assembly, but this will be much more costly.

you dont say weather it just wont turn atall,or it is turning but nothing is happening.if it is the latter robs idea is the way to go.but if it is not turning atall it may b just seized up from lack of use if so spray plenty of wd40 on to it and try next day.that failing try heating it a little bit with a blow torch.
