How do sites price Dogs???

I do not have a dog, but am curious...

Looking through the top 100 sites of 2009 I was amazed at the differing prices sites charge for dogs. How do they choose how much you pay? Do they have height gauge like at the fairground? A measuring device like at the shoe shop? Some kind of calipers???

If my experience is anything to go by they charge as much as they think they can get away with! The charge seems to bear no relevence to whether they provide dog walking areas or waste bins.

They measure them by volume.

The dog is immersed into a pond and water is displaced into a measuring beaker - the level rising according to the volume of the dog.

So, the more water displaced, the more the owner pays.

The more energetic dogs will, of course, displace more water with their splashing, and consequently pay more - but I think that's only fair.

I think it is more scientific than that. They determine a price that would hopefully deter owners of more than 1 dog from coming and will also possibly put some off who only have one. They do not really want dogs but know that some customers will not come without their dog so they set a price that most will accept.

Do not expect logic for pitch pricing and you will not be dissapointed.

Such a shame then that those same sites don't apply the same logic to charges for kids

Spot on. It's the rip of merchant syndrome. Just look at the photo of Jo-annes worst nightmare. Rack em and pack em like sardines. What a joke.

My awning is in my view an intrinsic part of my caravan, purpose built and always remains within "my pitch". I refuse to pay for it per night nor will I pay for my two dogs. They are entitled to a holiday and as long as I keep them under control and keep a supply of poo bags to hand , who am I hurting?

Thus I only use dog and awning friendly sites. Such bliss.

How do sites work out the prices for dogs?

Many of them seem to operate what I call "piss off pricing". ie. they don't really want them, so the price is set to discourage owners. But there is a price at which their greed overcomes their reluctance.

A bit like the garage not liking to do a particular job on a car, so they quote double the book labour hours - so they probably won't have to do the job, but if they do they'll at least make a nice bundle of money out of it.
 
Hi dogs poo on the ground even if you clean up after your dog(not all do)if it is soft you must leave some unless you cut grass then clean mud then children play ,step or sit in it then go back to sit in van ,parents then think next time we will go to a no dog site,so dogs just bark(not all)poo,wee on the ground(all),the owners are running a business people spend money in the shop,pub,acade(if they have these)= income dogs just poo and wee no income unless they charge

Lee i have to disagree with you i DO NOT let my dog do its business anywhere near where kids play why would i. I use the dog walk thats what its there for DOGS not people/kids no more comment ???????????
