How do you cut memory foam?

Hi all

I've just bought some memory foam mattress toppers and thought I would put them in duvet covers as others have suggested. However, the toppers are about 6 inches too long for the covers. Is there a way of cutting the foam without making a raggy mess? Would an electric carving knife work? Alternatively, what else could I use as a cover?

I always use an electric carving knife when cutting foam - it works a treat.
