How does the Search site facility work?

I've tried using the Search site facility - as searching the previous Forum pages for information was always a bit of a nightmare. I tried searching for 'Millau' and found only posts from 2004 and 2005. A similar search for Chartres found only old posts, despite there being a current post from 'Pat' showing up in the hot topics in the Continental Touring section.
Does the search find things only in the main block of the post, or in the heading, or somewhere else?

It seems as if the Search facility searches the whole website and not just for forum posts .. 'scratches head looking puzzled icon thingy'.

No, it will find everything eventually, but not today. We had a choice of putting the site live without all the content having been fully indexed, or wait until the indexing was finished, which might have been another day or so. With 300,000-odd forum posts dating back to 2004 (I think), it'll take a while for the site search to catch up, but catch up it will, at which point the whole archive should be searchable. Give it 24 hours...

Another little glitch JD.
In this thread it shows as there's no replies to Val A and even after refreshing the page it still shows no replies despite yourself and me replying :O)

Cacheing. The landing pages (and 'last posted' times etc) only update every five minutes - if it was kept up to date in real time the database would be dead in minutes (as we have found to our cost).
