Don't do anything that's not on the list of what you can do, until you've seen the Specialist after the operation and had a further x-ray done - even if you feel wonderful, and think you can do anything.
My brother had a hip replacement at the age of fifty-eight, and was like a spring chicken almost immediately afterwards with no pain, and absolutely no problems. He was walking without a stick, and using the normal lower seat settees, and said that he felt great. However, when he went back for his x-ray six weeks later the Specialist discovered that the bone was not filling in the gaps around the joint as it should have done, and he had to have a further period of not driving, sitting on high chairs, etc. If this hadn't been noticed the cement holding the prosthesis in place could have been weakened by any movement over and above that recommended, and that would almost certainly have resulted in longer term problems.
Take it easy, as you'll be told to do, and don't be in too much of a hurry to get back to normal.
