how to reprogramme a remote for 97 rav 4,

just got a new to me remote for my 97 rav 4 ,does anyone know how i would go about programming it?my nearest dealer is 50 miles away,and they want £65 to do it if i can get there,any help gratefully accepted,thanks,adrian
