hi folks, today me and mrs highlander traded in our beloved vauxhall vectra 1.8 sri for a hyundai tucson 2ltr petrol model.

i have had the vectra since almost new and have loved every minute of it, superb car and a looker into the bargain. however, as some of you are aware, we have recently joined in the touring caravan malrky and bought a second hand abbey aventura.

the limitted times we have had to tow with the vectra i found myself using the lower gears when faced with even the slightest gradient, it was ok on open flat roads, only seemed to run out of puff when faced with the former.

so, we decided to reluctantly look for a more suitable towing vehicle, i scoured the internet forums and reviews and the tucson looked a better suited candidate for the job. the outfit match has also shown up to be 86%, so thats bang on, whereas the vectra was showing a 93% match,

question is, will i really notice a difference in the towing capability now, going by the reviews it seems to be not to bad a choice, i know the diesel version would offer that little bit more but that wasnt available, any feedback on the petrol version would be much appreciated.

cheers.

its the 4wd one sproket, dont mean to go into technicalities here because i hivny a clue, however, ive read that the four wheel drive only kicks in when the sensors tell the rear wheels somethings up.

going by the reviews it should be more than capable of the job, as was the vectra, but in a better way, horses for courses an all that.

dont know for sure buddy, but i think i read somewhere it was 75kg. dont think this is an issue for me as we will always be towing with the caravan light as possible, no huge cargo on board.

It isnt all about the cargo weight as some vans are very nose heavy empty. If we have nothing but a single gas bottle in the front locker but no payload behind the axle the noseweight is in excess of 110kg. In some vans you need cargo to balance the "see saw". I'm probably not explaining this very well. Help.
