Hi, I a new to this forum but I have a 1996 Swift Conqueror 550 Lux. It is fitted with a IDM1C alarm but was not provided with the Pin code when I bought it second hand from a dealer. I have had no rpoblems with it until just recently when I connected it ti a hook up, when the siren was continually sounding. Does anyone know what would cause this problem or if it is possible to reset the default Pin on the alarm as I have tried entering 1234 as it says in the manual and it is having no effect and the siren still keeps sounding. The only way I can silence it is to switch one of the breakers off on the panel but unfortunately this is also the supply for the onboard charger. Help gratefully accepted

Hi Can anyone also tell me where I can find the siren unit on this van in order to check if there is a rechargeable battery inside which maybe dischaged or no longer working.

Thanks

I can say it's a black box the same size as a slim brick! it will have a 'kettle' type mains plug going to it.

The siren sounds through a hole in the floor so that's where you will find it.

It does have a small 1.2Ahr internal backup battery.

There is a way of resetting the default code, provided the unit is not armed, sorry I can't remember how.

As it happens the man that knows should be coming to see me tomorrow, I'll try and remember to ask him

Hi Hamer

Thanks for your help, I have tried the phone number on the manual but it keeps coming up that the number is not available so I am not able to contact them so I joined the forum to see if anyone else could be of assistance.

Thanks

I wpuld be grateful for any sugestions that you can come up with as I have tried to contact the alarm manufacturer but unfortunately their number keeps coming up as unavailable so i am reaching a dead end. If anyone has a current phone number for CEC plug in systems or a number for anyone that can assist I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks Again

The guy I have in mind is an ex plug in systems engineer, all it would seem of the good people are 'ex' unfortunately, that's probably why your number is no good which is a shame, used to be a very good firm.

Just to make things worse, I've a new phone and not all the contacts from the old one transferred over? including his of course!...

I'll get back to you..

Managed a word but he can't remember off hand how to reset it! what he did say though is the IDM1 does not have a fixed memory.

This means if the current internal backup battery is U/S, then unplugging the mains plug to the unit will reset the memory to default.

If however the internal battery has some life in it and therefore able to hold the memory? Then you will need to drill out a few pop-rivets to get at the connections and disconnect the internal battery, it must then reset to default, then reconnecting the battery should have it working ok.

PS, you should leave it disconnected for perhaps a couple of hour for any capacitors to discharge, which otherwise might hold the memory

Thank for your help, I still haven't managed to find the control unit for this alarm but I have discovered that the vans battery was only giving out 8.4 volts. I don't know if this will affect the alarm but I have removed the battery and charged it up to 13.6 volts before I try to trace the problem again.

Regards

Hello again, partial memory recall?! the problem is indeed a duff internal battery, this will be a 1.2Ahr sealed lead acid and around
