We took our caravan out for the first time on Saturday to Lime Tree Caravan Park in Buxton, Derbyshire just for the one night.

Firstly, what a spectacular view we had from our window.

Secondly, i cannot recommend this site enough especially for newbies like us, the wardens were extrelmy friendly and helpul and left me feeling like i had been caravanning for decades.

Towing there, parking her up, setting her up it was all brilliant and the last two months of reading up on the 101 different things you need to know before setting totally off paid off.

Just one thing beat me this weekend and that the toilet fluids (red and blue, cant remeber the brand) do you put this in neat or mix it with water and then pour in? Instructions were less than clear!

Stephena, glad your first trip went well, weve been to cornwall for a week and had fantastic weather, albeit cold.

With the top and bottem toilet fluid what we do is put it both in neat, the blue we put in and add just a bit of water to cover the bottem of the holding tank, and with the pink we put the pink in then fill with water thus mixing it as it fills.

hope this helps and heres wishing you many more grewat holidays in your new van

Hi Guys A good measure for the top tank is a capfull of toilet flush and if you look in the cap of your cassette ther are Three different measures we usually put about 75 mil in the cassette followed by 2 lires of water, works well.

Now we are going to our first site over the Easter period where you are not allowed to use blue toilet chemicals, so wishing to abide by campsite rules I was at the caravan show and bought a new chemical called One Shot, does for top and bottom but guess what ........ its blue.

I rang the site and told them and it seems if your chemicals are Fermaldahide free you are ok ragardless of colour and of course it has to have the cross on the package irritant free.

I hope you find this of some help as Its not the first site Ive heard asking for NO BLUE

Sir Roger.ps one shot

Our first ever caravan outing with a new van was to Lime Tree Park too. We'd picked up our new Sprite Europa from Lowe and Rhodes in Stoke, and chose Buxton for a 'try-out' site! We couldn't unhitch the caravan, and had to rely on helpful experiences caravanners to help us out!

We've never looked back, though still sometimes need help from others on site!

Sites that state "Green" toilet chemicals as opposed to Elsan Blue and similar which contain Formaldehyde have septic tank waste disposal.

Putting bleach, formaldehyde or other products in the tank destroys the bacteria which break down the waste.

If you are using a site which asks you to use "green" chemicals, please do so, it is irresponsible to use othe rtypes and you could find yourself with a bill for tank emptying.
