Inboard water tank

When you drain down your inboard tank you still leave about 1/2" of water in the bottom.

I had noticed that my water was starting to taste tainted.

I have now taken the cap off and i completely dry out the tank and then leave the cap off the bad taste i had has now gone.

In between outings this water must have been left for a few weeks maybe a month, has anyone else noticed this or have ways to remove all the water?

I recently fitted a Fiamma tank and I found that the first hole I drilled for the drain(from the side) was slightly above the bottom so it was promoted to water outlet

I then fitted a drain oulet in the bottom of the tank using a standard household water tank fitting

It sounds as though it was worth the rethink from what you have just posted

Thanks!

hi

You should always drain and clean tanks before use or you will get bad smells and thing growing in you tank. Not to mention stomach problems and god knows what??? That goes for fresh water and wast water.

we have had two inboard tanks,we drain them as we leave site and by the time that we are home there is nothing left in there never cleaned tank at all.🙂

I open the drain taps as well but when i get home i still have 1/2" of water in the tank.

It needs a drain point in the middle of the tank at its lowest point.
